Telemetry studies investigating the impact of human habituation on animal behavior remain scarce. Using satellite telemetry on a female lowland tapir (Tapirus terrestris) reared in the Sarayaku community in the Ecuadorian Amazon, we observed a 90% reduction in its home range compared to wild tapirs.
